While climbing the Sigiriya Lion’s Rock is the more popular activity in Sigiriya, the lesser crowded and the more adventurous one is the neighboring Pidurangala Rock. Pidurangala offers a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view with Sigiriya itself as the centerpiece. Imagine watching the vibrant colors of sunset paint the sky while this majestic rock formation stands tall in front of you.

Tangalle Beach

The main beach in Tangalle offers soft golden sand, clear blue waters, and swaying palm trees. It’s perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and taking leisurely strolls along the shore. Tangalle is located in the southern coast of Sri Lanka and was originally a small fishing village. After the tsunami in 2004, rebuilding Tangalle has been slow. Thus, Tangalle is a peaceful beach to visit if you want to stay away from the crowds, and enjoy a perfect sunset. The small bay is one of the few recommended places to go swimming, with a sheltering reef that catches most of the big waves – more like a lovely natural jacuzzi!

Summit of Ambuluwawe Tower

Perched atop a mountain, the Ambuluwawe Tower reaches a height of 48 meters (157.4 feet). Making it less suitable for those with a fear of heights. Adding to the scenic viewpoints in Sri Lanka, the reward for ascending this tower is a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the surroundings. – you feel as though you are on top of the clouds! Moon Plains National Park

Moon Plains is a lesser-known gem nestled in the highlands of Sri Lanka, near the town of Nuwara Eliya. Visitors can embark on guided hikes or jeep safaris through the park. These safaris are led by experienced local guides who provide insights into the park’s ecology and wildlife. One of the highlights of Moon Plains is the iconic “World’s End” viewpoint. Here the landscape dramatically drops off into a sheer cliff, offering awe-inspiring vistas of the surrounding countryside.
